Despite failing to reach the 90-meter mark, Indian javelin superstar Neeraj Chopra finished first in the 2025 Paris Diamond League with yet another dominant performance. Among a top-tier competition that included five competitors with personal bests of 90 meters or more, including Olympic medalist Anderson Peters and Julian Weber (91.06 meters), Chopra took the lead early on with a huge throw of 88.16 meters in the first round. Throughout the competition, his effort was unmatched.
Chopra's opening shot had to stand tight because his third, fourth, and five throws were all fouls, even though he had a strong second-round throw of 85.10 meters. Competitors put up a strong fight, though, with Weber reaching 87.88 meters and Luiz Maurício da Silva of Brazil throwing 86.62 meters in the third round. With a best throw of 87.88 meters, German competitor Julian Weber, who had defeated Neeraj at the Doha Diamond League and the Janusz Kusociński Memorial in Poland, came in second. Third place went to Luiz Mauricio da Silva of Brazil, who set a new personal best of 86.62 meters. Additionally, he surpassed his previous continental record of 86.34 meters.
Following his first-ever 90-meter throw in Doha, where he surpassed his previous best of 89.94 meters with a throw of 90.23 meters, Paris was Neeraj's second Diamond League appearance of the season. Neeraj played in the Paris Diamond League for the first time in eight years. With a throw of 84.67 meters, he placed fifth in his last appearance in 2017.
