Ruturaj Gaikwad made his much-awaited return to competitive cricket in the intra-squad match between India and India A cricket team. The opening batsman suffered an elbow injury during IPL 2025 and missed the majority of the season. He was included in the India A squad for the two-match unofficial Test series against England Lions but didn't play the series.
More than 2 months after playing his previous game, Ruturaj made his on-field return for India A. Since he isn't part of Team India for the five-match Test series against England, Ruturaj will return home with other members of India A cricket team.
Ruturaj will return to England next month to play county cricket. The 28-year-old recently signed a county deal with the Yorkshire Cricket Club. He will play county cricket and one-day championship matches for his new team.
When will Ruturaj Gaikwad make his county cricket debut?
Ruturaj Gaikwad will make his county cricket debut in July. Yorkshire's release mentioned that he would play his first game for them in late July. Yorkshire are scheduled to face Surrey from July 22 to 25. They will play their next game against Sussex from July 29 to August 1.
Ruturaj will make his Yorkshire debut on July 22 or 29. He is likely to play 5 first-class games for Yorkshire. After the Sussex game, Ruturaj will be in action in white-ball cricket and represent Yorkshire in one-day championship matches. The tournament will be played from August 5 to September 20. The two semi-finals will take place on August 31. The final will be held 20 days later.
The teams will make their returns to red-ball cricket during these 20 days. Ruturaj will play his last red-ball game of the county season from September 24 to 27. He could return to India early for the Duleep Trophy, scheduled to kick off on August 28.
