The big day is here - the IPL 2025 final, with two teams, who have waited 18 years for the elusive title, looking to end the long hiatus. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will clash in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium, but rain could play spoilsport to their plans.
According to AccuWeather, there is over a 50 percent chance of rain ahead of the match, however, the forecast gets better around the match time. Still, there will be a heavy cloud cover which will keep the teams on their toes. RCB would want the match to be completed as a washout will extend their wait for the IPL title.

Bizarre Rule That Could Cost RCB Maiden IPL Title

If the match is washed out due to rain, PBKS will be declared the IPL Champions. According to the IPL rule, the team that finished higher on the points table will be crowned champions if the match does not take place. RCB defeated PBKS comprehensively in Qualifier 1, yet if the match is washed out, PBKS will grab their maiden trophy, while RCB will suffer a heartbreak.
In key events like the World Cups, if the final is washed out, both the finalists are declared joint winners, but in IPL, for some reason, the performance in the league stage will determine the winner in case of a washout. But there was little to separate the teams in the league stage, with both teams winning nine matches. PBKS piped RCB marginally on the run rate, and if they win the IPL without playing the RCB because of this bizarre rule, it will be very unfair on the RCB.
However, a complete washout is very unlikely in Ahmedabad despite the prediction of rain on the match day. Extra 120 minutes can be added to the play if the match is delayed due to rain. If the play is not possible on the scheduled day, there is a reserve day in place on June 4.
