Sanjiv Goenka-owned Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had another below-par IPL season and they crashed out of the league stage of IPL 2025. Led by Rishabh Pant, LSG only managed to win 6 out of their 14 matches. LSG struggled on many fronts during the season and in the end, they finished in the seventh position in the points table.
Sanjiv Goenka could make a big change in team management after the flop show in IPL 2025. Cricbuzz has reported that questions are being raised about the future of few members of the coaching staff, including Zaheer Khan.
The India legend, reportedly, had a one-year deal with LSG and it has to be renewed if the two parties want to work together in IPL 2026. The report in Cricbuzz adds that Zaheer is facing the heat and him continuing as LSG's mentor would be a surprise.
The legendary pacer joined LSG before IPL 2025. He worked alongside Justin Langer, who is LSG's head coach. Langer has been with LSG since IPL 2024. LSG have failed to make it to the second round of both seasons under him. His contract is also up for renewal. It remains to be seen if both of them will be there in LSG's dug-out in IPL 2026 or not.
Given Rishabh Pant's struggles in IPL 2026, LSG could also take a call on his future. The Lucknow-based franchise shelled out a huge sum of Rs 27 crore on Rishabh. He is the highest-paid player in IPL's history.
Rishabh only managed one century and a half-century across 13 innings. He also struggled on the captaincy front.
LSG made their IPL debut in 2022 and have made it to the second round of two seasons so far. Gautam Gambhir was LSG's mentor in both seasons they made it to the playoffs.
