The IPL 2025 is all set to come to a close on June 3 (Tuesday) as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in an exciting final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This will be an exciting match as we will see a team being crowned champions for the very first time in the IPL. Both RCB and PBKS have never won the title previously, and would battle it out in a contest for the ages. All eyes will be on which team will be victorious.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finished second in the IPL 2025 points table. The team that has finished second in previous IPL editions has won the tournament a total of eight times, the most in history. This gives RCB an advantage.

On the other hand, teams that have won Qualifier 1 have won 11 out of the 14 IPL finals. In fact, all the previous seven IPL winners from 2018 to 2024 had won Qualifier 1. RCB won the IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings on May 29 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, that too quite comprehensively by 6 wickets.

This means that historically, RCB has a pretty big advantage as they aim to win their first IPL trophy.

RCB and PBKS have played 36 matches in IPL history, and both sides have equal footing on each other. Bith have won 18 games each. However, this season, RCB has had the upper hand. Out of the three games that the two sides have played in IPL 2025, RCB have won two of these.

Hence, recent form and history both suggest that RCB are the most likely contenders to win the IPL 2025 final and lift their trophy.
