Virat Kohli's dream to win IPL 2025 came true after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the IPL final. Kohli waited 18 years to lift the cup, and when the moment arrived, he couldn't control his tears. RCB is one of the biggest brands in IPL, and credit must also go to the loyal fanbase who stood tall by the team despite several heartbreaks.
Kohli didn't forget to thank the fans after RCB won their maiden IPL title. The veteran took to social media and penned an emotional note to express gratitude to the fans who waited patiently for 18 years to see RCB lift the Cup.
“This team made the dream possible, a season I’ll never ever forget,” he wrote.
“This one is for the fans of RCB who never ever left our side in the worst of times. This one is for all the years of heartbreak and disappointment. This is for every inch of effort left on the field playing for this team. As far as the IPL trophy is concerned—you’ve made me wait 18 years to be able to lift you and celebrate, my friend, but it’s been absolutely worth the wait.”

Meanwhile, as Kohli returned to the dressing room along with AB de Villiers, he gave an emotional speech where he had warm words to say for captain Rajat Patidar. Kohli said that Patidar's journey from an injury replacement to an IPL-winning captain is extraordinary. .
"What a turnaround. From injury replacement to IPL-winning captain. Bloody Hell," Kohli said while referring to Patidar before throwing one of his bats towards him.
"Very difficult to explain, man," Kohli said in the dressing room. "I think I am going to feel the real side of it when we get to Bengaluru tomorrow, and celebrate it with the city and the fans who have stood with us through thick and thin. So I am just relieved. Full bunch of match winners. People stepping up at different stages and putting their hands up to get the job done for the team. To have that hunger and confidence in them," he added.
Kohli also lavished praise on his teammates, specifically pointing out Mayank Agarwal, who came in as a replacement for Devdutt Padikkal, and said he can never go away from being a Bengaluru boy.
"This guy, local lad [points to Mayank Agarwal] comes in place of Dev [dutt Padikkal]. You could see they wear that badge with pride… of RCB. That can never go away from a Bengaluru boy and yeah, this guy was special.," Kohli said.
The India great was interrupted by Mayank, who said that Kohli is as much a Bengaluru boy as anybody else.
"Sorry to cut you off. You playing for Bengaluru for 18 years, I can tell you one thing. You are as much a Bengaluru boy as anybody else. I am sure you have an idea but tomorrow and the coming days, you will really experience the love of this city," Agarwal told Virat.
