Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) ended their wait to play an IPL final and made it to their first summit clash since 2014. PBKS chased down the target of 204 against Mumbai Indians (MI) with five wickets and one over to spare. Captain Shreyas led PBKS from the front and remained unbeaten on 87 off just 41 balls in the chase. The right-handed batsman hit 8 sixes and 5 boundaries in his knock.

Shreyas etched his name in history books and achieved a huge milestone after leading PBKS into the final of IPL 2025. He is now the only captain in IPL's history to take 3 teams to IPL finals.

Shreyas, who started his captaincy career with Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2018, led them to their maiden IPL final in 2020. DC lost to Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final.

Shreyas joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. He captained KKR to a title win in 2024. Despite that, KKR didn't retain him. They didn't show much interest in re-signing him.

Shreyas joined PBKS for a huge sum of Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction and captained them to the final of IPL 2025. A title win here will see him become the first captain to win IPL trophies with 2 different teams.

PBKS will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday (June 3). The fixture will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB made it to the final with a win over PBKS in the first qualifier.

Since PBKS finished at the top spot, they had two chances to make it to the final. IPL is set to have a first-time winner as PBKS and RCB haven't won the IPL title despite being part of the league since its inception.
