Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday (June 3). IPL is set to have first-time winners as both teams haven't won the elusive title despite being part of the league since its inception.
RCB will be playing their fourth IPL final. The Bengaluru-based franchise had a dream run in IPL 2009 and made it to the final, where they lost to Deccan Chargers. In IPL 2011 final, Chennai Super Kings defeated RCB. RCB suffered another heartbreak in the IPL 2016 final and lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad, who finished in fourth position in the points table.
PBKS will be playing their second IPL final. They lost the IPL 2014 final against Kolkata Knight Riders. It's the first time since 2014 that PBKS have made it to the second round.
Shreyas will etch his name in history books and become the first captain to win the IPL trophy with 2 teams if PBKS defeat RCB in the final. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli in the final. He has been part of RCB since day 1 and the fans are hoping to see him finally lift the IPL trophy.
When will IPL 2025 final start?
The IPL 2025 final will start at 7:30 PM IST. The toss will take place at 7:00 PM IST. The captain winning the toss might opt to bowl first. The weather is likely to remain overcast and rain could interrupt the live action. The second qualifier between PBKS and Mumbai Indians (MI) was delayed for more than 2 hours due to heavy rain in the city.
RCB made it to the final with a win over PBKS in the first qualifier while PBKS booked their spot by defeating MI in the second qualifier.
