KL Rahul is having a great run in IPL 2025. With 493 runs in 11 games, including a hundred against Gujarat Titans, Rahul is the leading run scorer for the Delhi Capitals (DC). The stunning show in the IPL has opened doors for Rahul's comeback to the T20I team. According to a report in the Times of India, the BCCI is mulling over giving Rahul another chance in the T20I team. The report states that Rahul could be part of the T20I team that will tour Bangladesh for three matches.

The series will serve as a preparation for the T20 World Cup in February next year. Rahul last played a T20I for India in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal against England. He had a mediocre outing in the tournament and scored just 128 runs in six matches.

With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli announcing retirement from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024, India's T20I side lacks experience, even though they have a plethora of match winners available in the team. Rahul could fit well in the team and play the anchor role with explosive batters playing around him.

Rahul recently created history and became the fastest Indian to reach the 8000 run mark in T20I cricket. Rahul achieved the feat in his 224th innings and beat the record of Virat Kohli, who reached the milestone in 244 innings. Shikhar Dhawan stands third on the list with 8000 runs in 277 innings. Overall, Chris Gayle (213) and Babar Azam (218) top the charts of fastest to 8000 runs in T20 cricket.
