Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were eliminated from IPL 2025 after a six-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). LSG batted first and posted a strong total of 205-7, courtesy of 65 by Mitchell Marsh and 61 by Aiden Markram. The total was a defendable one, but LSG had no answers to the Abhishek Sharma onslaught (59 off 20), and Heinrich Klaasen, who made 47 in 28 balls, as SRH picked up a comprehensive win.

Nicholas Pooran's Reaction Goes Viral

The match saw a rare outburst from Nicholas Pooran, who lost his cool after being run out just short of the fifty-run mark. The incident unfolded in the final over of the LSG innings when Pooran, in an attempt to get on the strike, went for a risky bye and fell short of the crease. A devastated Pooran walked back to the dressing room after making a solid 45 in 26 balls. Pooran was visibly frustrated at the dismissal and threw his gloves in anger after Abdul Samad lost his wicket on the penultimate delivery. The video quickly went viral on social media.

Pooran had a great run for LSG in IPL 2025 and scored 455 runs in 12 matches, the most by an LSG batter this season so far.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant promoted himself to three against SRH, however, it brought little change in his fortune as he was dismissed for seven runs in six balls. Pant was roped in by LSG for INR 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history, however, he has looked a pale shadow of his own in the field. Pant managed 135 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 100, with just a fifty to his name.

IPL 2025 marked the second consecutive year where LSG failed to qualify for the playoffs. So far, GT, RCB and PBKS have booked a berth in the IPL playoffs.
