KL Rahul is the verge of becoming the fastest Indian batter to score 8000 T20 runs on Sunday against Gujarat Titans.

Delhi Capitals' batting mainstay KL Rahul will be on the cusp of breaking an elite record of batting legend Virat Kohli when DC face Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday.
Currently, Rahul is 33 runs away from becoming the fastest Indian batter to score 8000 T20 runs. If he scores the runs, Rahul will achieve the feat in just 214 innings - surpassing Kohli’s record of 243 innings.
The milestone will make Rahul the second-fastest batter to achieve the feat in T20 cricket, going past Babar Azam of Pakistan. Babar is currently in the second position, having achieved the milestone in 218 innings. West Indies legend Chris Gayle tops the list, having attained the feat in 213 innings.
With the Capitals expected to rejig their batting order, Rahul may either bat at No. 3 or No. 4. This season, he opened once, batted at No. 3 twice, and at No. 4 in seven games. He adapted to the roles quite well, scoring 381 runs from 10 matches at an average of 47.63. He batted at a strike rate of 142.63.
However, Rahul has to be wary of Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan, who has dismissed the Indian batter three times and conceded just 40 runs off 47 balls against him.
With a playoff spot at stake and a historic record within reach of Rahul, Sunday’s clash promises to be a thriller. DC are currently placed fifth on the points table with 13 points from 11 matches.
