Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were supposed to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, that would have marked the restart of the IPL 2025 after the tournament was suspended for one week due to India-Pakistan tensions. However, the rain gods decided to play spoilsport as the incessant rain in Bengaluru forced the match to be called off without a single ball being bowled. This has now boosted RCB's chance of qualifying for the IPL 2025 playoffs.

Due to the washout both RCB and KKR have shared one pint each. This means that RCB have moved to the top of the table with 17 points from 12 games. This point comes as a blessing in disguise for them, as they now have one foot in the IPL 2025 playoffs.

RCB have two games remaining in the IPL 2025 group stages. The first of these is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday (May 23) and against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27 (Tuesday). If they win any one of these two games, then they will qualify for the playoffs.

They can qualify as early as Sunday (May 18). If on this day, any one of Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) lose their respective group stage matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively, then RCB will qualify with 17 points on the board.

If RCB win their remaining two games, then they will definitely qualify as one of the top two sides of the league stage.

The washout is bad news for KKR as the defending champ officially knocked out of the tournament, since they could only finish on 14 points, if they win their final game of the campaign against SRH.

The maximum points tally they could achieve is now 14, which is unfortunately not enough for them to qualify.
