The IPL 2025 was supposed to resume after a week of remaining suspended due to India-Pakistan tensions on Ma 17 (Saturday) with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, the match was a dam squib as the rain Gods decided to play spoilsport in Bengaluru. The match was completely washed out due to rain without a single ball being bowled. This does not come as good news for KKR.

The match has been washed out, and that means both RCB and KKR have got one point each. This means that KKR are now on 12 points from 13 games, with 5 wins, 6 losses and two no-results. KKR can now only achieve a points tally of 14 if they win their only remaining match of the group stage against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 25 (Sunday).

A final points tally of 14 will not be enough for KKR to qualify for the playoffs. This means that the defending champions become the fourth team this season after Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and SRH to be knocked out of the competition.

How RCB Can Qualify For IPL 2025 Playoffs

RCB have two games remaining in the IPL 2025 group stages. The first of these is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday (May 23) and against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27 (Tuesday). If they win any one of these two games, then they will qualify for the playoffs.

They can qualify as early as Sunday (May 18). If on this day, any one of Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) lose their respective group stage matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively, then RCB will qualify with 17 points on the board.
