In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir stated that his country should not play any cricket matches against Pakistan. On Monday, May 5, the head coach of India stated that cricket should not start again until the situation has improved and justice has been served.
The majority of the 26 victims killed in the April 22 incident in Pahalgam, were tourists. India has since begun to sever ties and relations with Pakistan in a number of areas. Now that he has contributed his voice, Gambhir has called for an end to all cricket matches between the two nations, including those played in ICC events.

Gambhir's Massive Verdict On Matches With Pakistan

Gambhir stated that India should refrain from playing against Pakistan till terrorism is stopped and something is done, while speaking at an ABP event in New Delhi. His opinions were similar to those of Rajeev Shukla, the vice president of the BCCI, who recently declared that bilateral cricket with Pakistan would never happen.
"My personal answer to this is absolutely no. Till all this (cross-border terrorism) doesn't stop there should not be anything between India and Pakistan. Ultimately this is government's call whether we play them or not. I have said this before also, no cricket match or Bollywood or any other interaction is more important than the life of Indian soldiers and Indian citizens," Gambhir said.
"Matches will keep happening, movies will be made, singers will continue to perform but nothing comes close to losing a loved one in your family," he added.
Nevertheless, Gambhir stated unequivocally that he will follow the Indian government's and BCCI's decision, particularly with regard to the forthcoming Asia Cup, in which India may have to play Pakistan.
"This is not up to me, this is for BCCI and more importantly the government to decide whether we should play them or not. Whatever decision they make, we should be absolutely fine with it and not politicise it," he added.
According to reports, The Resistance Front, a group associated with the outlawed terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, was responsible for the Pahalgam attack. It has been dubbed one of the worst attacks since the Mumbai bombings of 2008. It also reminded people of the Pulwama tragedy in 2019.
The attack has been vehemently denounced by the Indian government and international leaders. The cricket community has responded as well. It is too soon to predict if India and Pakistan will face one other in future ICC events, according to India veteran Sunil Gavaskar. Additionally, he hinted that Pakistan could not even be permitted to compete in the Asia Cup, which is being hosted in Sri Lanka and India.
