Kagiso Rabada returned back home after the first few games of the IPL 2025 for the Gujarat Titans (GT) citing personal reasons. However, a few days ago, the star South African pacer confirmed that he went back due to a suspension he was serving for taking a recreational drug. He is currently back in India, as fans are waiting in bated breath as to when he can return so that he can give boost to GT in their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. It looks like his return date might have been confirmed.
In the press conference before the match between GT and Mumbai Indians (MI), Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki has confirmed that Rabada has served his suspension and might just play the match at the Wankhede Stadium. He also lauded Rabada for coming out and issuing a public apology for his actions.
"With Kagiso, as far as tomorrow's match is concerned, the fact is he is now available, given all of the decisions that have been taken and whatever has transpired over the past month or so. Kagiso has expressed regret at an error in judgment. He's made a telling statement," Solanki said.
"He has expressed regret, as I said, but is very much looking forward to getting back to playing the game he loves. He will take his sort of lessons from this, and we're just looking forward to having him back at practice," he added.
'Rabada Has Followed All Protocol'
Vikram Solanki also said that Rabada has followed all protocol as he has made his return to the GT squad after serving his suspension.
"As far as procedure and protocol are concerned, everybody that's been involved in this episode, right from Kagiso, his representatives, all matters as far as requirements have been followed to the letter," he said.
According to reports, Kagiso Rabada used a recreational drug after an SA20 match between MI Cape Town and Durban Super Giants.
