Delhi Capitals (DC) will square off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 55th match of IPL 2025 in an away game on Monday (May 5). DC were placed at the top spot at one stage but even a win over SRH might not see them return to the top four. They have 6 wins and 4 defeats from 10 matches. They are at the fifth spot.

SRH have 3 wins and 7 defeats from 10 matches and are placed at the 9th spot. SRH are practically out of IPL 2025. They need to win their rest of 4 matches and need the results of other matches to go their way.

Going into the fixture, all eyes will be on Axar Patel as he has been the go-to star for DC. But the DC captain could be doubtful for the all-important game. Axar suffered an injury during the previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders while fielding.

"My skin got peeled off as I dived on the practice wickets to stop the ball, but the good thing is there are 3-4 days break and hopefully I will be able to recover," he said.

The DC fans would hope that Axar is fit for the game. DC will have a new captain if that isn't the case. DC had announced their vice-captain before the season and they have a ready-to-go replacement for Axar.

Faf du Plessis, DC's vice-captain, will lead the franchise if Axar sits out. The former South Africa captain joined DC for Rs 2 crore. He made his IPL captaincy debut in 2022 and led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in three seasons. Under him, RCB qualified for the second round of IPL 2022 and 2024. He only received one bid in the IPL 2025 mega-auction and joined DC at his base price.
