Rajasthan Royals (RR) are hosting Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 36th match of IPL 2025. While Rishabh Pant is leading LSG, RR are without the services of their regular captain, Sanju Samson. Riyan Parag is once again leading RR in his absence. The right-handed batsman captained RR in the first 3 matches. Samson played these matches as an Impact Player.

Samson made his return as captain from the fourth game. He suffered a rib injury during RR's previous game against Delhi Capitals (DC) and walked off during his innings. The rib issue has now kept him out of RR's game against LSG.

RR have handed a debut to 14-year-old youngster, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He joined the franchise for Rs 1.1 crore. "We were looking to bowl, it is a little bit warm under lights, should be better than the last time. Vaibhav the youngster comes in. It's been kinda tricky, we've been doing small bits right but we haven't been able to put a collective performance together, we've been having honest chats as a team. We love playing here, we know the conditions well, hope we can put that to good use," Riyan said at the toss.

With only 2 wins from 7 matches, RR are at the 8th spot in the points table. RR can move down to the last spot should they lose against LSG. LSG have 4 wins from 7 matches and are placed at the fifth spot in the table. They can move to the second spot if they defeat RR.
