Manchester United stormed into the semi-finals of the Europa League on Friday. Despite blowing a two-goal lead in the first half, the Red Devils came back from 4-2 down in extra time to knock out Lyon and secure a place among the last four in the tournament. In a remarkable match at Old Trafford, United won 5-4 on the night and 7-6 on aggregate after Harry Maguire’s dramatic winner.

Interestingly, the game between United and Lyon was the first major European football match in history to witness five goals scored after extra time.

It was also the second time Man United had won a match 5-4 in their entire history, the other coming all the way back in February 1958 against Arsenal.

However, what made the win even more impressive was that Manchester United created history by becoming the first football team to score two goals in the 120th minute of a major European match.

The stars of the night - Fernandes, Maguire and Mainoo also had a spectacular game. In terms of numbers vs Lyon, Fernandes's stats read: 97 total touches, 59 attempted passes, 48 successful passes, 6 passes into the final third, 6 shots and 1 goal. It was the Portuguese that registered United's 5000th goal at Old Trafford, since the club first moved into their home 115 years ago.

For Harry Maguire it read: 100 percent tackles won, 83 percent pass accuracy, 56 total touches, 8 passes into the final third, 1 assist and 1 goal.

Kobbie Mainoo, who came on late as a substitute, had equally impressive numbers with 100 per cent aerial duels won, 100 per cent ground duels won, 1 shot and 1 goal.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro also had a mighty impressive game. He won the penalty in the 114th minute, assisted the equaliser in the 120th minute and assisted the winner in the 121st minute. He also won more duels (9) and created more chances (4) than any other United player, made eight clearances, won possession seven times and won all three of his tackles.
