Not one, Joe Root went past Rahul Dravid in two elite lists during the Lord's Test against India. Early on day 2 of the fixture, Root registered his 37th Test century. He now has one more Test century than Dravid, who was known as The Wall. Root ended the day 1 unbeaten on 99. He breached the 100-run mark on the very first ball he faced on the second day. The former England captain departed for 104 off 199 balls.
Later on day 2, Root created a world record as he went past Dravid in another list. Root now has the most catches in the history of Test cricket. He displaced Dravid from the top position.
One of the best fielders of his generation, Dravid finished his Test career with 210 catches. He retired in 2012. Root was just one catch short of Dravid's tally and went past him when he grabbed a one-handed stunner to dismiss Karun Nair for 40.
The decision was referred to the third umpire, who decided that Root took a safe catch. With 205 catches, Mahela Jayawardene sits at the third spot. The former Sri Lanka captain is followed by Steve Smith and Jacques Kallis.

Root has been enjoying a purple patch in Test cricket in the past several years and he has a real chance of overtaking Sachin Tendulkar to become the highest run-scorer in Test cricket's history.
The right-handed batsman has scored 13219 runs in 156 Tests. Sachin finished his Test career with 15921 runs in 200 matches. The Master Blaster slammed 51 Test centuries. Root is unlikely to match this record.
Courtesy of Root's ton, England registered a big total of 387 on the board. England's tail once again frustrated the Indian bowlers and took the score close to the 400-run mark. The five-match series is levelled 1-1.
