Josh Tongue troubled Rishabh Pant on the second day of the Leeds Test match. Rishabh, one of the most fearless batsmen in world cricket, struggled against him and got hit by him a few times. Following another blow in the 108th over, Rishabh told Ravindra Jadeja about his swollen knee.
Tongue did his job by testing Rishabh with his in-swingers and he dismissed the batter on the very next delivery. The right-arm pacer trapped Rishabh in front of the stumps for 134 off 178 balls.
Tongue dominated the proceedings after dismissing Rishabh and followed up with wickets of Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Prasidh Krishna as India were bowled out for 471. They were six down for 453 when Rishabh was dismissed.
Ben Stokes also shone with the ball and took a four-fer. He scalped the key wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur. Sudharsan and Karun failed to open their account.
England dominate with bat
England dominated the proceedings with the bat after coming out to bat and finished the day with a score of 209/3 on the board. After losing Zak Crawley's wicket in the first over, the home team bounced back as Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope added 122 runs for the second wicket. Duckett departed for 62.
Joe Root scored 28 before departing in the final few minutes of the play. Bumrah was the pick of Indian bowlers and he scalped all 3 wickets England lost. Ollie remained unbeaten on 100 at the end of second day. He will kick off the proceedings with Harry Brook, who survived day 2's last over.
India aim for early wickets
India will need early wickets on the third day to make a return in the game. A big partnership between Brook and Ollie can see England even take lead by the end of the day. India haven't won a Test series in England since 2007.
