Jasprit Bumrah once again came to India's rescue as he provided the team with two crucial breakthroughs on Day 2 of the first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds. India lost momentum after they slipped from 430-3 to 471 all out. They were a few runs short, given the flat surface, but Bumrah got India off to a brilliant start with a wicket of Zak Crawley in the first over.
Bumrah would have got Ben Duckett too, but he was dropped by Ravindra Jadeja. India were under pressure after Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett added a century stand; however, Bumrah returned after Tea to get the big wicket of Ben Duckett for 62.

The wicket of Duckett helped Bumrah script history. Bumrah now has the most wickets by an Asian bowler in SENA countries. The record was previously held by Wasim Akram, who had 146 wickets to his name, and Bumrah has surpassed him with his 147th wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah's Record In SENA

Australia 12 64 6/33
England 10 39 5/64
New Zealand 2 6 3/62
South Africa 8 38 6/61

Most Wickets By Asian Bowlers In SENA

Jasprit Bumrah 147
Wasim Akram 146
Anil Kumble 141
Ishant Sharma 130
Meanwhile, England have made a strong response to India's total, and given the flat conditions, India need to keep chipping away with wickets to stay in the game. Bumrah has been sensational for India, but other bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Ravindra Jadeja, have looked ordinary, which is a worry for India as Bumrah can't carry the entire bowling lineup.
After Krishna's horrible start, the fans lashed out at the management for not playing Arshdeep Singh who would have given their bowling attack a left-arm variety. Also, India have bowled 34 overs so far, with England at 138-2, but they have not used Shardul Thakur for a single over, raising questions about the move, as if he was to play as a batter, Nitish Reddy would have been a much better option.
