
Rishabh Pant Creates HISTORY, Breaks MS Dhoni's 11-Year-Old Record In 1st Test Vs England

India are absolutely dominating England in the first Test of the five-match series at Headingley. Rishabh Pant has been one of the destructors-in-chief for the Indian team with the bat. He has played a sensational innings, keeping his brilliant Test record going. He has now broken a major record held by the great MS Dhoni, as he slammed a century in the first session of Day 2.
Rishabh Pant now has seven hundreds in the longest format of the game. He is now the Indian wicketkeeper with the most number of centuries in history. He goes past MS Dhoni, who hit 6 hundreds in his Test career. In fact, only Pant and Dhoni have slammed more than 5 tons in the longest format of the game.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who opened the batting had a brilliant stand of 91 runs. Rahul was the first wicket to fall after scoring 42 runs by Brydon Carse. Just a few balls later, Sai Sudharsan, the new batter at no.3 was dismissed for a duck, as he had a debut to forget.
After lunch, Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill continued India's onslaught. The duo went on to slam a century partnership. Jaiswal went on to score a century in his first innings on English soil. He was dismissed for 101. After that Rishabh Pant and Gill continued to score the runs with a double century stand, with Gill going on to be dismissed after hitting 147.
Karun Nair was dismissed for a duck on his return to the Indian team after 8 years. India would be looking to score in excess of 600 runs with Pant still at the crease after spctimg a centiry.
