Rishabh Pant once again proved his domination in Test cricket and remained unbeaten on 65 to finish the opening day of the Leeds Test match against England. The left-handed batsman punished the loose balls while he also defended plenty of deliveries. The left-handed batsman broke several records on the opening day.
Rishabh created history and overtook Rohit Sharma in a huge list. Rishabh now has most sixes by an Indian batsman in the World Test Championship (WTC). With 56 sixes each, Rohit and Rishabh shared the second spot in the overall list.
The wicketkeeper-batsman has now moved ahead of his former captain. Rohit has now retired from Test cricket. He scored 2716 runs, 56 sixes, 9 centuries and 8 half-centuries in WTC.
As for Rishabh, he has 2317 runs, 4 centuries and 14 half-centuries in the ICC event's history. The India vice-captain can score his fifth half-century on the second day of the Leeds Test match.
Who has most sixes in World Test Championship?
Ben Stokes tops the list of batsmen with the most sixes in WTC. The England captain has 83 big hits in the ICC event. Stokes has 3312 runs, 7 centuries and 17 half-centuries. A complete package on the field, Stokes has also scalped 82 wickets in WTC.
India dominate day 1
India dominated the opening day of the Leeds Test match. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul provided a dream start to the visitors and added 91 runs for the first wicket. Yashasvi went on to score a century and he departed for 101. The left-handed batsman battled cramps in both hands.
Captain Shubman Gill achieved a huge milestone and became the fifth Indian to score a century on his Test captaincy debut. He remained unbeaten on 127 off 175 balls. Shubman and Rishabh have added 138 runs for the fourth wicket so far.
