On day 1 of the first Test match against England on Friday, June 20, at Headingley, Leeds, India's opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made a roaring celebration after he reached his century. During a pivotal stand with skipper Shubman Gill in the second session, Jaiswal reached his hundred. The southpaw became the fifth Indian batter to hit a century in their first innings in England, hitting 16 fours and a six on his way to his fifth Test century.
India lost KL Rahul and Sai Sudharshan as the first session came to an end, but Jaiswal and Gill put up a 129-run partnership just after lunch. Throughout their partnership, the pair played intelligent cricket, and their loud shouts to one another and their rushing between the wickets were two of its most notable aspects.

During the broadcast show, the host reminded Irfan Pathan of his old remark where he praised Jaiswal as the new king of offside, a title which was earlier associated with the legendary Sourav Ganguly. Irfan said that if anyone can dominate that area for a long time, it is none other than Yashasvi Jaiswal.
