Rishabh Pant wasted no time in getting into the thick of the action during the first day of play in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds on Friday (June 20) as he made his plan clear into the second ball of the innings.
Pant walked out to bat in the third session after the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, with the Indian team in a commanding position. After playing a dot ball to start his innings, the Indian vice-captain danced down the track and smashed England skipper Stokes for a boundary straight.
Stokes was evidently amazed at Pant's approach and bravery and was seen laughing. In an incident that quickly became the talk of the town on social media, the home team captain walked out to bat and had an exchange of words. The conversation appeared to happen in high spirits, with the two players sharing some banter.

A couple of overs later, the duo once again had a fun chat with each other after Stokes attempted a dipping yorker on Pant. While the ball was executed to perfection, Pant read the delivery's trajectory in time to ensure he knocked it for a single.
Talking about the match, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. Indian got a solid start as Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul put up a 92-run partnership. However, the visitors were hit with a blow in the final minutes of the first session as Rahul (42) and debutant Sai Sudharsan (0) departed in quick succession.
Indian captain Shubman Gill and Jaiswal ensured that the double did not hurt the team as they ensured the team did not lose a single wicket in the second session. The third-wicket pair put up a 129-run partnership. Jaiswal made a knock of 101 while Gill has made a half-century.
Stokes has taken two of India's first three dismissals with the wickets of Sudharsan and Jaiswal.
