India are currently taking on England in the first Test of the five-match series at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from the longest format, leaving two huge holes in the Indian lineup. Hence, in their absence, one of the batters that India is depending heavily on is Yashasvi Jaiswal. In this match, the left-handed opener proved his worth once again as he slammed yet another century.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has now scored a century in his first Test in England. He also scored 161 in the second innings of his first Test match in Australia, which occurred in Perth in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. Jaiswal has now become the first Indian batter to score a century in his first Test matches in both England and Australia.
Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed 101 in just 129 balls, as he took the England bowlers to the cleaners, hitting 16 boundaries and one six. He stitched two important stands- 91 alongside KL Rahul for the first wickets, and 129 for the fourth wicket alongside captain Shubman Gill.
He was ultimately dismissed by Ben Stokes just after tea, as he rattled his stumps. Jaiswal struggled with hand cramps in the latter stage of his innings.
