India has produced some of the greatest players in the history of cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is considered the all-time greatest batter, especially since he is the leading run scorer in international cricket history. Virat Kohli, too, is considered close to Sachin Tendulkar, and certainly the greatest modern-day batter. There is a debate as to who among them is the best player of all time. However, former England and T20 World Cup-winning captain Jos Buttler has not named any of the two, but 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the best player he has ever seen.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi created ripples for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. He slammed 252 runs from 7 games at a strike-rate of 206. He earned the Super Striker of the Season award, for having the best-strike rate among all batters in IPL 2025. In an interaction with Stuart Broad on the "For The Love Of Cricket" Podcast, Jos Buttler was all praise for Suryavanshi for his 33-ball 57 run innings he scored against Chennai Super Kings.
“I was watching on TV. And, you know, Chennai have Ravi Ashwin, Jadeja — proper seasoned pros. And he was like, bang, hit them out into the sand. And then sort of, you know, knocked one out to cover, like, I’m so in control, I’ll just take one now, trot down to the other end. And at that moment, I’m like — this guy’s the best player I’ve ever seen. Like, I’m so blown away,” Buttler said.
'Vaibhav Suryavanshi Was Outrageous Vs Gujarat Titans'
Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025 when he became the youngest centurion in T20 cricket history at just 14 years old. He also hit the second-fastest century in IPL history, slamming it in just 35 balls.
Jos Buttler, who was one of the key players for GT in IPL 2025, said that he was absolutely astonished with his innings, especially the bog zxes that he hit against reputed international bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna.
“The innings against us — you know, our bowling attack consists of Mohammed Siraj, a brilliant international bowler, Prasidh Krishna, an international bowler, Rashid Khan, the best T20 bowler — and he just… the scale of the sixes. They weren’t just clearing the boundary — they were big sixes. I mean, you’re literally a yard from him. Big sixes. And a 35-ball 100 — it was outrageous,” Buttler said.
