India are all set to take on England in their first foray in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. This will be a crucial five-match Test series that will take place in England with the first match beginning from June 20 (Friday). Jasprit Bumrah will be a crucial player for India in the series, as England would be wary of the star fast bowler. However, he would only play three out of the five matches owing to workload management issues. Former England legend Nick Knight has not named Bumrah as the most difficult bowler England would not like to face. Instead, he has named Kuldeep Yadav.
In an interaction with PTI, Nick Knight has revealed that India need to get 20 wickets, and for that they need to play Kuldeep Yadav as much as possible. This is because as the pitch starts turning on the later days of Test, Kuldeep would be effective and England would not want to face him.
"Last time India were over here, that bowling attack was phenomenal. And my view is, if India are going to win this series, the focus for me is a little bit more on the ball than the bat. Are India going to be able to get 20 wickets?" Knight said.
"I want to play Kuldeep as much as possible. If the ball is turning on day three, day four, Kuldeep plays. England will least want to face Kuldeep," he added.
'Jasprit Bumrah Best In The World'
Jasprit Bumrah has been termed by Nick Knight as the best bowler in the world at the moment. However, England would not want to naturally attack the fast bowler. They will find it harder to attack Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs when they try to do so.
"Bumrah is separate to that discussion because he’s the very best in the world at the moment. England like to attack. England want to take the game on. I don’t think they’re going to want to be so brave and bold. They’ll find that harder against the likes of Kuldeep bowling in those middle overs.
