England legend James Anderson hilariously trolled the members of the Fab Four after being asked to compare them with Sachin Tendulkar. The Fab Four includes the best batsmen of the present generation - Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root. Virat is now only active in ODIs while Smith has retired from ODIs.
Speaking to TalkSport, Anderson said that he ranks the members of Fab Four just below Sachin. Known as The Master Blaster, Sachin is considered one of the best batsmen of his generation.
He excelled in both formats played during his generation and scored consistently. Sachin finished his career as the highest run-scorer in international cricket. The ICC Hall of Famer piled up 18426 runs in 463 ODIs. He finished his Test career with 15921 runs in 200 Tests. He is the most-capped player in international cricket.
In 2010, Sachin created history when he smashed a double-century in an ODI against South Africa. He was the first batsman to score a double-century in ODIs.
Sachin is the only batsman with 100 centuries in international cricket. He hit 51 centuries in Tests and 49 centuries in ODIs. The India legend also played one T20I.
Virat is the only batsman who comes close to Sachin in terms of centuries. The former India captain has 82 centuries in international cricket. He sits in the second position in the overall list.
Among the Fab Four, Virat is followed by Joe Root. The former England Test captain has 54 centuries in international cricket. Smith and Williamson share the third spot. Both batsmen have 48 centuries each.
Williamson now plays without a central contract, having denied it twice. Virat is only active in ODIs while Smith has retired from ODIs. Root is active in all three formats but he hasn't played a T20I since 2019.
