The Indian cricket team will kickstart their preparations for the five-match Test series against England on Friday (June 13) as they play their sole warm-up match. The Indian team will face India A in a four-day intra-squad match at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham.
This match comes on the back of India A's two-match unofficial Test series against England Lions, which ended in a draw. Both games ended in a draw. The India A team had seven members of the 18-man squad selected to play in the Shubman Gill-led senior squad, which included captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Yasasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
All 18 members are set to play in this match for either team. As per reports from England, Harshit Rana, Manav Suthar, Anshul Kamboj, and Mukesh Kumar have joined the team. No other players who were part of the India A but not part of the main team are expected to play.
Talking about the series, the first Test is just eight days away and will start on next Friday (June 20) at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. Later, the teams will play each other at Edgbaston, Lord's, Old Trafford, and the Oval.
This series is also the first of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, where India will aim to reach the final after missing out for the first time in 2025.
This is also India's first assignment since the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and also the first full series they will play since Ravichandran Ashwin called it quits.

The India vs India A match starts at the Kent Cricket Ground in Beckenham on Friday (June 13) at 11:00 AM local time and 3:30 PM IST. India has decided to keep the match a closed-door affair without cameras and hence the game will be not be telecasted or streamed anywhere.
