India Test captain Shubman Gill drew flak from fans after his picture from the pre-series photoshoot went viral. The fans were upset at Shubman Gill's MRF bat label that had 'Prince' written over it. Gill is often called the 'Prince ' by the cricket fraternity, but the fact that the tag was printed on his MRF bat didn't please the fans.

The fans took to social media to express their disagreement and said that Sachin Tendulkar was called the God of cricket, and Virat Kohli was known as the 'King', but the players never used such stickers on their bats. However, it is not clear if Gill himself used the tag on the bat, or if it was the decision taken by the brand.

Gill's appointment as captain was a debatable call as his Test numbers are not great; however, the management backed him given his tremendous potential. The England tour will test his temperament. There is no denying the fact that expectations will be high from the new team, but it's also a fact that England is not an easy team to beat, especially in overseas conditions. If the start didn't go India's way, things could quickly fall apart. For a new captain, who also has to prove his selection with his performance, this can be an unforgiving situation. However, he has the potential to overcome all the challenges. In his first address as team captain, Gill asked the players to prepare for the series with full commitment.

"Let us make each and every net session meaningful and let us prepare like that and let us put ourselves under a little bit of pressure when we are going out there. It is not about going out there and surviving. Let us try to find out our game, how we are going to play when we are put under pressure, whether it be bowlers or batsmen. And let is make the practice match and each and every net very meaningful and let us play every ball with purpose," he concluded.
