Australia's preparations for the World Test Championship (WTC) final hit a roadblock after they were denied permission to train at Lord's on Saturday. The decision by the Lord's authorities meant that Australia had to take a three-hour trip to find a training venue. According to a report in Fox Sports, the Indian cricket team, who is in England for the five-match Test series, was allowed to train at Lord's, leaving the Australian camp upset.
For the unversed, Australia will play South Africa in the WTC final at Lord's from June 11, while India's Test series against England gets underway on June 20, however, the teams will lock horns at Lord's only in the third Test from July 10.
While the Australians were given access to the venue on Sunday, captain Pat Cummins didn't shy away from taking a sly dig at England. Cummins was asked about the infamous incident when the Australian players were abused during the fiery 2023 Ashes series. Notably, Usman Khawaja was pulled by one MCC member as the Australian team returned to the dressing room following Alex Carey's controversial run out of Jonny Bairstow. Later, one MCC member was fired from the club while two others were handed lengthy suspensions for the verbal abuse directed at Cummins and his team.
Cummins didn't mince words and said that the mischiefs would have learned the lesson and will be more polite this time around.
“I think this is the best version of the stadium this morning,” Cummins told Network 10.
“There’s no one around, which is great. I’m sure it will be much more civil this time around. Things got pretty heated in the middle of that Ashes series, but I think a lot of them will have learned their lesson and I’m sure they’ll be very polite," he said.

Australia Eye History At Lord's

Australia are the defending champions, and if they can beat South Africa in the final, they'll become first team in the world to hold multiple World Test Championship titles.
