Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their 18-year-long wait and defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final to lift the trophy for the first time in history. Rajat Patidar, who made his IPL captaincy debut in the season, etched his name in history books by becoming the first RCB captain to lead the team to the title win.

PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer also enjoyed a purple patch on the captaincy front. PBKS is one of the struggling teams in IPL and they hadn't made it to the second round since 2014. Shreyas did wonders for them and PBKS made it to the final.

While the majority of fans would have either Rajat or Shreyas as the captain of their respective IPL teams, Navjot Singh Sidhu made a surprising choice and picked Rohit Sharma.

Rohit doesn't lead an IPL team. Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit as the captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) before IPL 2024 and he continues to lead the franchise. Rohit played IPL 2025 as an Impact Player.

Rohit captained MI to 5 IPL title wins before being removed from captaincy. He was among the players retained by the franchise before the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

Sidhu's team also includes Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler. Shreyas Iyer has been named as number 4 batsman while Nicholas Pooran will bat at number 5. Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal, made it to Sidhu's team. Krunal bowled a Player of the Final spell and scalped 2 wickets for just 17 runs in the final.

Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood and Prasidh Krishna are three pacers in the team. Prasidh won the Purple Cap with 25 scalps. Noor Ahmad, who scalped 24 wickets, also made it to Sidhu's team. He played for Chennai Super Kings in the season.
