Rajat Patidar made a memorable captaincy debut in IPL 2025 and led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their maiden IPL title win. RCB have been part of the league since its inception but had remained trophyless for 17 years. The move to appoint Rajat as the captain did wonders for them and they won the trophy in their first season under him.
Rajat led RCB in 13 matches. He played two matches as an Impact Player due to a finger injury. Jitesh Sharma captained the team in his absence.
As Rajat captained RCB to their first-ever IPL title win, he created history and achieved a huge feat quicker than Virat Kohli. Rajat is the fastest RCB captain to record 10 wins in IPL. He achieved the milestone in 13 games. RCB only lost 3 matches under him.
Anil Kumble, who sits at the second spot, completed 10 wins in 14 matches. RCB lost the IPL 2009 final to Deccan Chargers under his leadership.
He is followed by Virat Kohli, who needed 16 matches to register his 10th win as the RCB captain. Virat led RCB on a full-time basis from 2013 to 2021. He retired from T20Is after winning the 2024 World Cup.
Faf du Plessis needed 17 matches to lead RCB to 10 wins and sit at the fourth spot. He is followed by Daniel Vettori, who took 19 matches.
RCB came close to winning the IPL title in 2009, 2011 and 2016. They lost all three finals. Virat played a match-winning knock in the IPL 2025 final and scored a crucial 43 off 35 balls as RCB put on a total of 190/9 on the board.
Krunal's spell proved to be the game-changer and PBKS managed a total of 184 at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also dismissed 2 batsmen in the final.
