Mumbai Indians have reacted to 2011 WC winner's retirement.

More than 12 years after playing his last game for Team India, Piyush Chawla announced his retirement from professional cricket. The veteran leg-spinner last represented India in a T20I in December 2012. He also played a Test match in the same month. Piyush continued to play IPL and domestic cricket for 12 years after playing his last international game.
Piyush finished his career with 3 Test, 25 ODI and 7 T20I caps. Overall, he played 137 first-class, 164 List A and 297 T20 matches. He was a regular in IPL and played the league till 2024.
His final IPL stint came with Mumbai Indians (MI). He first joined them in 2021. After going unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction, he was picked up by MI for IPL 2023 and 2024 for Rs 50 lakh. He played 16 matches in 2023 and 11 games in 2024. Rohit Sharma was MI's captain in 2023 while Hardik Pandya took over the charge next year.
MI took to X to send their wishes to Piyush, a member of India's 2011 World Cup-winning team, following his retirement from the game. "Congratulations on a wonderful career and good luck for the second innings, PC bhai! Looking forward to more backyard matches between you and Adi," MI wrote on X.
Piyush started his IPL career with Punjab Kings (then known as Kings XI Punjab) and played for them from 2008 to 2013. He joined Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and hit the winning runs for them in the final. He played for them till 2019. Piyush had a one-year stint with Chennai Super Kings in 2020. He played three seasons for MI after joining them in 2021.
Piyush won 2 ICC World Cup trophies under MS Dhoni. He was part of the teams which won the 2007 T20 and 2011 ODI World Cups.
