Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians have officially confirmed their Qualifier 2 clash with Punjab Kings after a thrilling 20-run victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 Eliminator. MI won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision turned out fine as the five-time champions posted a massive total of 228/5 with the help of Rohit Sharma's 81 and cameo knocks from Jonny Bairstow, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.
Gujarat Titans had a massive total in front of them and bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult in front of them defending it. Bumrah was once again a difference maker as even in a chase where the Titans went all out, he only gave 27 runs in his four overs and even took one wicket.
The Gujarat Titans had a tough battle pursuing the target, even with the impressive play of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. Trent Boult's dismissal of Gill in the opening over was a blow that was supposed to dampen Gujarat's enthusiasm and put an early dent in their ambitions. But Sudharsan had different plans. Before Richard Gleeson finally took him out, the young batter scorched his way to 80 runs off just 49 balls.
Despite this, Sudharsan made history by becoming the youngest cricket player to reach 600 runs in a season. With a rapid 48 runs off 24 balls, Washington Sundar offered crucial support, but the Mumbai Indians eventually put on a spectacular comeback. The tide swung sharply against Gujarat as captain Hardik Pandya introduced Jasprit Bumrah into the attack, and Sudharsan's exit left them with no chance of recovery.
