Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Jos Buttler was among the England players who returned home from IPL following the conclusion of the league stage of IPL 2025. Buttler was earlier scheduled to play the full IPL as the tournament was set to end on May 25. But with the end of the tournament being delayed, few of the overseas players had to leave after the league stage to fulfill their international commitments.

Buttler is part of England's playing XI for their ongoing ODI against West Indies. Apart from Buttler, Jacob Bethell and Will Jacks also returned home. With GT set to play the must-win eliminator against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday (May 30), will Buttler return to India for the fixture?

No, Jos Buttler will not return to India for the IPL 2025 playoffs. He and other England players who are part of the ODI series will stay there and play the complete series.

IPL allowed the franchises to sign replacements and they have already roped in players. GT signed Kusal Mendis as Buttler's replacement and he looks set to make his IPL debut.

Apart from Buttler, GT will also be without the services of Kagiso Rabada. The franchise decided against signing a replacement for him.

MI signed Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson and Charith Asalanka in place of Jacks, Corbin Bosch and Ryan Rickelton. South Africa's Bosch and Rickelton returned home to prepare for the World Test Championship final, scheduled to played from June 11 to 15.

Jos Buttler played a key role in Gujarat Titans' success in IPL 2025 and scored 538 runs in 13 innings. He batted with a strike-rate of 163.03. His tally includes 5 half-centuries. GT's success has heavily relied on their top three batters and his absence is a big blow to the team.

The losing team of the eliminator will crash out while the winning team will face the loser of the first qualifier in the second qualifier on June 1. The IPL 2025 final is scheduled to be played on June 3.
