KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Rishabh Pant created history vs RCB
  • Pant scored the second IPL century of his career
  • Pant's both tons have come at number three
Rishabh Pant etched his name in the history books despite Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffering a six-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their final game of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) in a high-scoring clash on Tuesday (May 27) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Pant put aside a horror run of form with the bat in the 2025 IPL and scored his second ton in the tournament while ending a seven-year wait to reach the milestone. Previously, Pant made a ton in the 2018 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) while playing for Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley in Delhi.
Against RCB, Pant made an unbeaten knock of 119 in 61 balls, which included 11 boundaries and eight sixes at a strike-rate of 193.44.

Pant's ton came after he promoted himself in the batting order and walked out to bat at number three. The Indian cricket star's maiden IPL ton had also come in the same position. As a result, Pant has become the first non-opener designated wicket-kepeer batter to score multiple tons while not opening the batting.

Overall, Pant is the fourth designated glovesman to score multiple tons in the IPL after Quinton de Kock, Adam Gilchrist, and KL Rahul, who also have two tons each.
Overall, Pant is only the fifth non-opener to score multiple tons in the IPL after Ab de Villiers, Sanju Samson, Heinrich Klaasen, and Suryakumar Yadav.
