The World Championship of Legends (WCL) was a massive hit last year as it became the second most-watched cricket league. The blockbuster event is all set to return in July 2025, with six teams from India, Pakistan, England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies battling for the title. India Champions will enter the tournament as defending champions, having won the title in 2024 after beating Pakistan in the final.
The blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan is set to take place on July 20 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The Indian squad will be led by Yuvraj Singh and will feature veterans like Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa, RP Singh, among others. Shahid Afridi will captain the Pakistan squad and will have the services of Younis Khan, Misbah ul Haq, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Abdul Razzaq, among others.
This should be a cracking game of cricket if played, however, chances are that the match might be called off, or the entire tournament might be postponed. While there is no official confirmation on the status of the event, the recent border tensions between India and Pakistan have pushed the ties between the two countries to an all-time low.
India have suspended all trades with Pakistan, and the cricket team also pulled out of the Asia Cup. The WCL is not organised by the BCCI, so they probably won't have any say, but the Indian stakeholders could still pull out of the event.
