Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), reacted after skipper and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant smashed a sensational century in the IPL clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Pant, who has been in woeful form this season, earned Goenka’s public appreciation following his breathtaking hundred.
Goenka congratulated Rishabh Pant with a special wordplay and wrote: 'Pant'astic!'.
The reaction comes days after Goenka also posted a congratulatory message to Pant on his elevation as vice-captain of India’s Test team.
Goenka and Pant have been involved in a few fiery moments where cameras caught them in animated discussions during IPL 2025. In one of the games, after Pant's dismissal, cameras caught Goenka visibly disappointed and walking away from the balcony. Visuals of Goenka's animated chat with Pant after LSG lost by eight wickets in their first home game also went viral. Back then, 1983 World Cup winner Madan Lal had lashed out at the LSG owner.
"I don't know the discussion between Rishabh and Mr Sanjiv Goenka. All this can happen inside. Let boys enjoy the game let them play freely. 20/20 cricket very unpredictable," Lal had suggested on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, Pant (118 not out, 61b, 11x4, 8x6) and Marsh (67, 37b) added 152 runs for an impressive second wicket stand as the Super Giants made the most of a fine pitch and some wayward bowling by RCB.
Throughout this season, Pant struggled to find his range, striking at a mere 107 and the skipper's underwhelming efforts with the bat had a huge impact on the fortunes of the Lucknow side.
But Pant rewrote the script on the night, hitting the ball with the required amount of power and his strike-rate was hovering around 200.
