Virat Kohli continued his golden run of form in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) last league stage match of the season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday (May 27).
Walking out to open the batting with Phil Slat, Kohli faced a steep task as RCB were set a massive total of 228 in a must-win clash for them to secure an elusive top two finish and secure top chances of reaching the final, which will be played on June 3 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Kohli and Salt put up another 50+ partnership with a 61-run stand in just 34 balls before the English opener departed after scoring a 19-ball 30. Kohli brought up his eighth half-century of the season, making a knock of 54 in 30 balls. Not only did the ex-RCB captain give his side a quick start, but he also ensured that he shattered the record books.
Virat Kohli Completes 9000 Runs For RCB
Kohli completed 9000 runs for RCB in all competitions through the course of his knock and became the first player in the world to achieve the feat for one team in the shortest format. The second player on the list of players with the most T20 runs for one team is Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians, but the five-time IPL-winning captain has nearly 3000 runs less than him.

Kohli also completed 600 runs in the 2025 IPL. He has reached the milestone for the third time in a row having also achieved the feat in 2023 and 2024. The 36-year-old has reached the 600-run mark for the fifth time in his career in a season and is the first player in history to achieve the feat this many times.
