Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are all set to take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the final league stage match of the IPL 2025 in Lucknow on Tuesday (May 27). RCB have a chance to finish in the top two and play Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1, depending on tonight's result. The franchise will have to depend on Virat Kohli, who has been in sensational form throughout the season. The superstar batter now has the chance to create history and break a major IPL record.

Virat Kohli has 62 half-centuries in the IPL, the joint-most by a player in IPL history alongside David Warner. If he manages to score a half-century against LSG, then he will overtake Warner and become the player with the most fifties in IPL history. The only other active player who is close to Kohli is Rohit Sharma, who has 46 half-centuries in the IPL.

Hence, Kohli has the chance to break two records in the match against LSG.

RCB are currently third on the points table with 17 points from 13 games. If they win tonight against LSG, then will be on 19 points, and move to second, displacing Gujarat Titans. In fact, if they win by a healthy margin, their Net Run Rate might even overtake PBKS' +0.372, and move to first place.

So al RCB need to finish in the top two is to win against LSG. This will give them a chance to play Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1.
