Tim David is not part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) line-up in their last league stage match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
RCB is once again being led by Jitesh Sharma, as Rajat Patidar is only playing as a specialist batter and will come in as an impact sub. Jitesh won the toss and chose to bowl first and revealed that Liam Livingstone has replaced Tim David in the playing XI. Meanwhile, Nuwan Tushara has taken Lungi Ngidi's place as the South African star has left for international duty.
As far as David is concerned, he has missed out after suffering a hamstring injury while fielding in RCB's defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday (May 23).
RCB's stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma stated at the toss that David and Josh Hazlewood should return to their line-up for the next game, which will be held in Mullanpur and will either the first qualifier against Punjab Kings or the eliminator vs Mumbai Indians.
Hazelwood has missed RCB's last two games due to a shoulder injury and has not played for them since April 27. The Australian pacer returned to India over the weekend and is expected to play in the playoffs.
David's absence against LSG is a big blow for RCB in what is a vital fixture for them. RCB need to win the match to finish in the top two and ensure they get two shots at reaching the final.
The Australian batter has been key to their success in IPL 2025 and shown remarkable consistency in the finisher's role. The 29-year-old has made 187 runs in nine innings at a strike-rate of 185.14 with one half-century.
