MS Dhoni is one of the calmest and composed personalities on the field. He rarely gets angry even while leading the team. But during the game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), Dhoni got angry at Matheesha Pathirana and Shivam Dube for not listening to him.
Shivam and Pathirana unknowingly ignored Dhoni, who ended up giving up on them. As per the commentator, the fielders were finally 'readjusted'. Dhoni's decision to make changes did wonders. Dube caught Sai Sudharsan while Pathirana caught Shahrukh Khan.
Ravindra Jadeja dismissed both the batters in the same over. The dismissals once again proved why Dhoni is one of the best captains in world cricket. CSK won the game by 83 runs.
Despite the win, CSK finished at the last spot in the points table. It was Dhoni's last game as CSK's captain as Ruturaj Gaikwad will make his return to lead the Yellow Army in IPL 2026. He was ruled out after five matches due to an elbow injury.
Will MS Dhoni play IPL 2026?
MS Dhoni will give himself 4-5 months before deciding whether he will play IPL 2026 or not. Speaking to Harsha Bhogle in the post-match presentation ceremony, the stand-in CSK captain said: "It depends. I have 4-5 months to decide, there's no hurry. Need to keep the body fit. You have to be at your best. If cricketers start retiring for their performance, some of them will retire at 22. Will go back to Ranchi, enjoy a few back rides. I am not saying I am done, not saying I am coming back. I have the luxury of timing. Will think about it and then decide."
CSK retained Dhoni in the uncapped category for Rs 4 crore. The five-time IPL-winning captain will be paid the same amount if he decides to play IPL 2026.
