Yuzvendra Chahal is not part of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) against Mumbai Indians (MI) in a vital 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Monday (May 26) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The clash is an important one as it a direct shootout for an elusive top two spot in the table.
Chahal also missed out in PBKS' defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday (May 24). It has been reported that the league's all-time highest wicket-taker is suffering from a finger injury. The franchise are yet to issue a statement on Chahal's injury or a clarification on whether he will be fit to play in the playoffs.
Chahal has been key to PBKS' success in the 2025 IPL with 14 wickets in 11 innings. He took two four-wicket hauls, which include a heroic spell in the team's historic victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The second instance of Chahal taking four wickets in a match came against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) when he took the second hat-trick of his IPL career.
This is Chahal's first season for PBKS after the franchise purchased him for a whopping amount of Rs. 18 crore in the 2025 IPL Mega Auction in Jeddah last year.
Before the toss, visuals shown by the broadcaster showed Chahal in a conversation with MI skipper Hardik Pandya and pointing to his finger in visible pain.
