Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma retired recently
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma recently announced their retirements from Test cricket. Rohit quit the red-ball cricket on May 7. Rohit was reportedly told by selectors that he won't be captaining the team in England.
Rohit had dropped himself from the playing XI for the fith Test match against Australia and was always doubtful for the England series. Though he had said that he wasn't retiring from the game and was still the Test team's captain.
As for Virat, he retired on May 12. The former India captain reached out to the selection committee in April. "Virat reached out early April and said he wants to finish. We've seen him give 200% to every ball that he plays, even when he is not batting or he's in the field. He probably felt that he had given everything that he had and if he can't keep up to the standards that he set for himself over the years, and how good he has been, and maybe it was time for him. It has come from him. You've got to respect that," Ajit Agarkar, India's chief selector, said recently.
