Heavy rains have lashed across Odisha for the past few hours, making the weather pretty inclement there. The coasts of the state have also witnessed some extreme turbulence at sea, that has affected many tourists as well. Snehashish Ganguly, current Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president and brother of ex-India captain Sourav Ganguly, along with his wife, Arpita, narrowly escaped disaster after their speedboat overturned while they were holidaying in the Puri sea beach.
The lifeguards at the beach came for the tourists who were affected by this disaster. They were brought to the shore with the use of rubber tubes.

Authorities Should Ban These Sports: Arpita Ganguly

Speaking to the media after they were rescued, Arpita Ganguly said that inspire of having a capacity of 10 people, only three to four people were onboarded for 'greed of money'. She even said that they were taken to the sea despite the fact that they had raised concerns. She even called for the ban of such sporting activities on a rough sea beach like Puri.
"The sea was already very rough. There was a capacity of 10 people on the boat, but due to the greed for money, they allowed only three to four people on board. This was the last boat to go into the sea for the day. We had raised concerns over going into the sea, but the operators told us that it is fine," Ganguly narrated.
"If the lifeguards had not come, we would not have been saved. I'm still in trauma...never faced something like this. If there were more people on the boat, maybe it would not have flipped. Authorities should ban these sports here. Puri beach has a very rough sea. I will write a letter to the Superintendent of Police and the Chief Minister once I go back to Kolkata, asking them to stop watersports here," she added.
