Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been on a sensational run in the IPL 2025. They are currently in the third position in the points table, having already qualified for the playoffs after 11 long years. They even have the opportunity to finish in the top two of the points table if they win their final league match of the IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 26 (Monday). However, the franchise have suffered a massive injury headache with just a few days left for the playoffs to begin.
Star leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal missed the last game against Delhi Capitals (DC), which raised a lot of eyebrows. Now, the frachise's assistant coach Sunil Joshi has stated that Chahal is carrying a niggle and hence they are resting him for a few games. According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Chahal suffered a wrist injury.
"Chahal has a small niggle, so we are just resting him. That's the idea," Joshi said.
This means that Chahal's participation in the crucial game against MI is in serious doubt.

How Punjab Kings Can Finish Top Two in IPL 2025?

Punjab Kings are currently on 17 points from 13 games. If they win their final match against MI, then they will reach 19 points. Reaching this tally would mean that the team will go on top of the IPL table. In fact, if RCB lose their final game of the season against LSG, then PBKS will finish the league stage as the top team at the end of the league stage.
If PBKS finish in the top two, then they will have two chances to qualify for the final that will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3.
They will play Qualifier 1, and if they lose that game, then they will have another shot when they play the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifer 2.
