Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of a struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side by a margin of 42 runs. RCB had already qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs even before the game was played, and they would have loved to win this match in order to finish in the coveted top two spots of the points table. They have now fallen to the third spot in the points table. Despite the loss RCB still has a decent chance to finish in the top two spot.
How RCB Can Finish In Top Two Of IPL 2025 Table
RCB now have 17 points from 13 games. They have one game to go against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27 (Tuesday). The first thing they need to do is win that match so that they have a better chance of qualifying into the playoffs as one of the top two sides.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) too have 17 points on the board while table toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) have 18 points on the board. For RCB to become table toppers at the end of the IPL 2025 group stage, both PBKS and GT have to lose their final games, and RCB need to win vs LSG.
If GT win their remaining game against CSK, and PBKS lose all of their two remaining matches, then RCB will qualify with 19 points on the board.
They can also qualify if PBKS wins one or both of their remaining games, and GT do not win their final game.
If RCB lose their match against LSG, then they need to hope that PBKS also lose their two remaining games and their run-rate falls below RCB.
What Happens If RCB Finish In Top Two?
If RCB finish in the top two then they will have two chances to qualify for the final that will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3.
They will play Qualifier 1, and if they lose thatgame, then they will have another shot when they play the winner of the Eliminator in the Qualifer 2.
