How RCB can stay in top 2?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (RCB) in the 65th match of IPL 2025 on Friday (May 23). The fixture will be played in Lucknow from 7:30 PM IST. RCB have qualified for the playoffs and sit at the second spot while SRH have already crashed out. With 4 wins, they are at the 8th spot in the points table.
RCB will aim to keep their 2nd spot as the teams finishing in top two get 2 chances to qualify for the final. RCB have their destiny in their own hands as far as a top-two finish is concerned. Here, we have a look at how they can stay in top 2 -
RCB need to win their next 2 matches to stay in the top 2 without the help of any other team. They can keep their spot even if they lose one match but will need favours from other teams in that case.
Wins over SRH and Lucknow Super Giants will see RCB finish with 21 points. Punjab Kings (PBKS) is the only other team which can finish with 21 points. These two teams will finish in the top 2 if they win their respective matches.
But if RCB suffer one defeat in their remaining matches, then they will get to 19 points. In that case, RCB would hope that Gujarat Titans (GT) lose their last game, as this would see them stay at 18 points.
If RCB lose their last 2 matches, then it would be tough for them to finish in the top 2 as GT already have 18 points. And just one more win for PBKS will see them get to 19 points while RCB will stay at 17.
The job is still not finished for RCB and they will need to win their next 2 matches to stay in the top 2 without any assistance from other teams. A win over SRH will strengthen their chances of finishing in the top 2.
